Recent reports have suggested more good reasons to use Herbaria soap. We were astonished to read that eczema, a common skin ailment, could lead to long-term health problems.
In May 2009, researchers from Washington University in St. Louis reported on their discovery of why eczema often leads to asthma.
Kopan's findings suggest the problem starts with damaged or defective skin. The researchers found that cells in damaged skin can secrete TSLP (thymic stromal lymphopoietin), a compound capable of eliciting a powerful immune response. And because the skin is so effective in secreting TSLP into the blood system, the substance travels throughout the body. When it reaches the lungs, it triggers the hypersensitivity characteristic of asthma.
In a February 19, 2010 report, a German study said that eczema can leave children at risk for “psychological abnormalities, in particular, emotional problems.”
In late February 2010, a health tip from US New &World Report lists common triggers for eczema. The list includes several irritants never found in Herbaria soaps: perfumes, detergents, alcohol and harsh ingredients.
Herbaria is grateful for the rave review from the blog, "Jill's Favorite Stuff."
“Wowee Kazowee! I am in love. Upon entering the store my senses were greeted by a bouquet of fruit, flowers, spices and herbs. It was just the pick me up I needed on a cold, grey December afternoon.”

St. Louis-based Herbaria announces the debut of its “Shaw’s Garden” soap, specially created at the request of the Missouri Botanical Garden to honor its 150th anniversary. The soap symbolizes the Garden’s mission to discover and share knowledge about plants and their environment.
To reflect the Garden’s global work in biodiversity, Herbaria scents the new bar with essential oils of katrafay and green peppercorn from Madagascar. Also in the bar are essential oils of lavender, recalling the Victorian times of the Garden’s founder, Henry Shaw, and cedarwood, representing Missouri.
French perfumer, Thierry Masson, said the bar has “good balance—it’s woody, fresh and spicy.”
“Shaw’s Garden” will debut at the Missouri Botanical Garden during the events of Herb Days and Earth Day, April 16-19. It will be available thereafter at the Garden Gate Shop.
Herbaria is a juried member of Best of Missouri Hands and belongs to the international Handcrafted Soap Makers Guild. From its web site, www.herbariasoap.com, Herbaria sells all natural soaps around the world.
