Rosemary was used by the ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans as a perfumer and purifier due to its strong antiseptic property. Rosemary was the key ingredient of the first perfume, Hungary water, which reputedly enabled the 72-year-old Queen of Hungary to romantically captivate the King of Poland. She must have smelled divine.
