If you’re searching for classic bay rum scent in a soap, we’ve got the best. We’re crazy about it! We offer this body bar with or without exfoliating oatmeal and also in a round, creamy shave puck. Vibrant with the irresistible spiciness of the West Indian bay tree, this soap will quickly become your favorite. Here's your ticket to an extraordinary shower. Luffa soap will quickly become your skin's BFF. We’ve incorporated our moisturizing soap into whole natural luffas (also spelled loofah). The ones we use come directly to us from Egypt. Luffa aegyptiaca is a member of the Cucurbitaceae (gourd) family that includes squash, pumpkins and zucchini. When young and tender, “sponge gourds” are eaten. When mature, they are used for a natural scrub. You’ll see why luffas have been used for thousands of years. They have a perfect texture for the job: not too rough but just right. These 6.5 ounce bars last for many enjoyable showers. They're big. They cover a large area with each pass. We’ve added a loop of hemp cord through the bar so it will hang and dry between uses. All of our Luffa Soaps begin with our signature vegetable based formula of saponified olive oil and/or rice bran oil, palm kernel oil and soy oil with retained glycerin. We've selected these five varieties to give you a choice of citrus, lavender, mint. Spice lovers would enjoy our Camper's Choice and Soapy's Choice luffas. Yes, many people enjoy the fresh scent of Soapy's Choice.

Customers have been asking for a vanilla bar for many years but we steadfastly refuse to use synthetic fragrance oils. Recently, however, we have discovered a source for a natural vanilla infusion that we find absolutely delightful. You will too. You’ll love the homey, fresh baked, mellow fragrance of pure vanilla. Perhaps this is not a bar, but a cake of soap. And making this cake moist and rich is extra virgin organic coconut oil. The coconut also sweetens the vanilla scent. The cakes are a soft caramel color with tiny flecks of ground vanilla beans. Still, they are buttery smooth in texture. Claims for vanilla’s health benefits abound. It has been used for centuries by the native peoples of South America. Today, aromatherapists use it for everything from an aphrodisiac to an aid for weight loss.

“Since the Best of Missouri Market five years ago, I’m never without your Sea Spice. It’s a masterpiece of soap artistry. "I was wandering happily along that September, sampling and browsing among winemakers, cheese mongers, jewelers, sculptors, and other artists. I’m one who saves all year for that fair because I buy a lot of my holiday and birthday gifts there. “Along the way, I began to smell something unimaginably pleasurable. I picked up my pace to reach the source of this fragrance. As I neared the Herbaria booth, I didn’t even mind waiting until I finally got in through the crowd to sniff the soaps on display. “I smelled several dozen bars, all with enticing essential oils and herbs and refreshing to the nose—beyond any bath or body products I’d ever come across. Each inhale moved me further into a world of rich, comforting fragrance. If I’d had the money, I’d have said, ‘One of each, please.’ “But I was under the spell of Sea Spice. I just kept returning to it. The name made me think of Old Spice, but this was surpassingly better, completely natural. “I love the way the seaweed and oatmeal scrub my skin. I love giving it as gifts. My friends and family are hooked, too.”

Our natural deodorants keep you feeling fresh from shower to shower. They eliminate odor-producing bacteria and smell fantastic. They utilize essential oils both for enchanting scents and for sustained antibacterial activity. Alcohol, the main ingredient in our deodorant, kills bacteria also. We do not use synthetically-produced alcohol. Instead, we use grain alcohol denatured (made undrinkable) with lavender essential oil. Our deodorants are not antiperspirants, which reduce sweat by clogging pores and often contain aluminum compounds. Our sprays allow underarm skin to breathe as nature intended.

The basis of our Brown Windsor soap comes from Perfumery and Kindred Arts, a Comprehensive Treatise on Perfumery by Richard Cristiani, published in Philadelphia in 1877. Even then, the author referred to the recipe as “Old Brown Windsor Soap.” The original soap was made in Windsor, England, and exported around the world. Brown Windsor was said to be a favorite of Napoleon, a notorious lover of scent. In the U.S., the soap was sold from the time of Lewis and Clark through the Civil War and into the Twentieth Century. By now, you must be wondering what it smells like and why it was so popular. Cristiani’s recipe called for lavender, bergamot, caraway, petitgrain, cinnamon, and clove. We tested various proportions of these essential oils and chose the blend we found most satisfying. The spiciness you’ll smell in the bar comes from cinnamon and clove. The sweet citrus scent comes from bergamot, a lemon-like fruit from Italy; the green citrus aroma comes from petitgrain, distilled from the twigs and leaves of bitter orange trees. You’ll love the caraway. This essential oil, prized in perfumery, adds a sophisticated twist. Lavender ties it all together. We add shea butter and avocado oil for extra moisturizing. Like all of our soaps, this a splendid skin care bar. Our Brown Windsor looks like granite—russet brown with flecks of pure white soap. Coffee makes the rich brown color but adds no aroma. Our Coffee soap is scented entirely differently, with coffee bean extract. Brown Windsor joins our collection of traditional soaps like Old Fashioned Lye, Bay Rum, and Lavender Oatmeal. We are proud that these and many others are sold at National Parks and Historic Sites.

When photographer Steve Adams, Ken’s friend, recently returned from Provence, he reported seeing many vendors of Savon d’Alep. It’s a soap from an ancient Syrian recipe that employs laurel for fragrance and color. Steve asked if Herbaria made anything like that. His suggestion was the impetus to create a soap Ken had been wanting to make for some time. Ken loves the smell of sweet bay laurel, which many of you cooks also enjoy. Ken was anxious to use another favorite essential oil, Sugandha Kokila, not well known in the U.S., but treasured in perfumery. Kokila, commonly called laurel berry, comes from a tree that grows in the Himalayas in Nepal. Ken combined the sweet bay laurel (Laurus nobilis) and the laurel berry (Cinnamomum glaucescens), two stellar fragrances from the Laurel family. The result: this magically enchanting Laurel Leaf & Berry soap. The fragrance is aromatic and spicy, camphor-like, warm and woody.

Our aftershaves are super skin conditioners. They contain several simple natural ingredients to make your skin feel comfortable all day, even after your closest shave. (That goes for you, too, ladies.) As in all Herbaria products, you will find no artificial fragrance, only pure essential oils. Our aftershaves are not colognes with cloying scents that stick around--the guest who doesn’t leave. The first thing you’ll smell when you sniff the aftershave is the main ingredient, witch hazel. There’s no better tonic or toner to put on your skin, especially problem skin. Very soon, the witch hazel evaporates and the aromas of the essential oils emerge: classic Bay Rum, cooling 7 Mints, and Lavender. We don’t add emulsifiers or stabilizers that might irritate your skin, so before you use your aftershave, shake the bottle to blend these trusted ingredients

Put a few drops of Beard Oil in your palms, rub them together and then apply the oil to your whiskers. A little goes a long way. Work the oil into your beard and down to your skin. Comb it through, and then style it to look neat and groomed. The image we’ve chosen for our Beard Oil label is an 1892 self-portrait of the dapper American photographer, William Henry Jackson.

Ground red rice, like oatmeal, provides a pleasurably bumpy ride when you use this mildly exfoliating soap. The other red in the name comes from red yeast rice, used in Traditional Chinese Medicine and known as hóng qū mǐ. Eat five bars of this soap a week and you’ll lower your blood pressure. In truth, red yeast rice is often used as a food colorant. It tints our bars a warm mahogany. The scent is harder to explain. It's a blend we created of eight essential oils to make a tantalizing natural perfume. It has a rich, warm, light spicy scent. The moisturizer we've chosen for this bar is mango butter. Mango butter is highly unsaponifiable, which means that it doesn’t turn to soap. It remains a butter that will soften, smooth and moisturize rough, dry skin.
